Welcome to Saasil Tulum
Situated in the quiet, evolving suburb of La Veleta, Saasil Tulum offers a distinctive stay for travelers seeking a blend of tranquility and local charm. With a solid 4.3 rating, this hotel brand stands out for its thoughtful use of space and unique design elements. The accommodations feature raised cement beds and couches topped with comfortable mattresses, creating a modern yet grounded atmosphere that feels both durable and inviting.
Guests appreciate the secure environment within the complex, highlighted by a guarded entrance that provides peace of mind amid the natural elements and surrounding construction. The outdoor pool and air-conditioned rooms add layers of comfort, complemented by practical amenities such as free Wi-Fi, free parking, laundry services, and airport shuttle access. Saasil’s pet- and kid-friendly policies widen its appeal for families and travelers with companions.
However, accessibility remains a notable challenge. The unpaved, rubble-strewn roads leading to Saasil can become difficult to navigate, especially during adverse weather conditions when flooding and ruts appear. This raw approach adds an adventurous edge to reaching the property but may not suit all visitors. Nighttime arrivals can feel uneasy due to the isolated path and ongoing neighborhood development.
Despite these hurdles, Saasil Tulum’s location offers proximity to some of the region’s most enchanting natural attractions, including the nearby Cristal and Escondido lakes, perfect for swimming and relaxation. The surrounding area, punctuated by quaint cafes and budding local culture, promises an authentic Tulum experience away from the tourist bustle.
Ultimately, Saasil Tulum appeals to guests who value safety, space, and a touch of rugged adventure. It captures the spirit of a destination still in flux—inviting those who seek a deeper connection with Tulum’s evolving landscape and lifestyle.

Biggest downside here were the unpaved roads around the building. We were there while 2 tropical storms hit and the roads got flooded and had big ruts. Building is nice, has a security door to the complex with a guard inside so we felt safe. Furniture inside is awesome, beds and couch were raised cement with a mattress/cushion. Extremely usable space.
So Saasil was an adventure to get to. The road to the place is very bad, its more of just rubble then an actual road. So drive very carefully when going to it. I agree with others that it was hard to find especially at night. It did feel unsafe at night because you have to get off road to the rubble road in order to get to the hotel. The area surrounding it was all under construction hence why it was off road. The interior of the place was really nice tho, the service was great, the cleaning lady was very sweet. Loved the pool, it cleaned automatically everyday in the morning. The main pool is open all night so that was a plus. For the room, there is only SALT water that comes from the taps, so be prepared to brush your teeth with salty water. We did not have any problem with the water running out however, we ran into problems with the toilet not flushing because there was not enough water for it to refill. but that was because our washing machine was running and the water was being used there. Saasil is a drive from downtown Tulum, we had a car so it would be like a 10 minute drive which was not bad at all. If location matters i suggest you find a place in downtown. Some very minor things that I noticed were that it was dusty, the cleaning was not as clean as I would have liked. The hand soap bottle was sticky and dirty along with other objects in the place. They cared more about the surface of everything to be clean but if you really looked you saw that it wasn't as clean. Even though the area was underdeveloped it was still very nice to as long as you stayed INSIDE of Saasil, it was fun with my friends but it also felt very unsafe at night. All in all i would definitely visit Tulum again but i am not sure i would live in Saasil unless the next time i go the area is more developed and felt more safe. But if you're looking for a reasonable priced place to stay I would recommend it. Just be vigilant, we did not encounter anything other than being chased by 2 dogs at night while in the car but other than that we were good and enjoyed our stay.
